One of the primary purposes of the Faith Lab is to help churches effectively use the powerful communications tools of the internet age. But does the church really need to be good at using these new digital tools?
Let's come at the issue from a different - and more important direction: missions.
Any missionary worth his or her salt will tell you that one of the first things a missionary must do is learn the language of the culture in which they minister. It allows for real communication, and shows a respect for the indigenous culture.

I think one of the most peculiar things that we do on the internet is ask people to be our friends. Before Facebook and Myspace. I hadn't asked anyone to be my friend since I passed “the note” asking my love for that week to check yes or no. What seems to be even more awkward than asking someone to be your friend is deleting said friends from your account. What will they think of me not wanting to be their friend? Will they ever speak to me again? Completely unwarranted questions being that most of the people that you would think of deleting you probably hadn't spoken to in 5, 10, or even 20 years. Burger King is offering a simple and tasty solution for those people that need to do a little housecleaning of their friends lists: the Whopper Sacrifice.

“I am alpha and omega…the beginning and the end.” It’s one of the ways God defines God’s self. It’s a short list of the places we can find easy audience with God – beginnings and endings.
I would concur with God. (Which is always a good thing.) God is easily glimpsed in beginnings and endings. Sunrises and sunsets – the beginnings and endings of a day – are mesmerizing moments displaying the artistic presence of God.

And get lost I did.
I'm not sure if it was an error in judgement, or subconsciously I was taunting the Grim Reaper, but within the first hour of shooting I found myself in a really, REALLY, bad part of downtown. At night.
When I realized where I was, my butt cheeks clinched up and all of my senses went on high alert. I decided to keep shooting and not to pack up and leave unless something happened. Besides, I was packing heat, if a small can of pepper spray qualifies as *heat*... |
