Nope…this is not an exegetical study of the Song of Songs or the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It’s actually a celebrative note for one more year of life…
Today is my birthday. (This was not mentioned in order to garner gifts, cards, and well-wishes…although none will be refused.) And since it was my birthday, the Good Lord shared a gift with me…
My alarm goes off at 5:00 am every morning. Yep, even Saturdays and Sundays. In the ensuing minutes the dog is walked, a cup of coffee is consumed, the newspaper is perused...and I'm out the door before 6:00 - swimming, biking or running. It's the life of an aspiring triathlete...

Ani Difranco rocks The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta’s Little Five Points at least once a year. This year, I had to officiate a wedding on the evening of the concert…70 miles away…at 6:00 pm. Riverside Drive is a four-lane access road that runs parallel to Interstate-75 on the eastern edge of the mini metropolis of Macon, Georgia. According to the Department of Transportation, it is one of the three busiest traffic arteries in our fair city. Last week, I was headed South on Riverside Drive toward the Macon City Auditorium. I, along with a carload of concert companions, was en route to see what was left of Gordon Lightfoot. (Another article for another day…) As we topped the hill where Riverside Drive intersects Wimbish Road…we slammed on brakes. Someone was changing a flat tire.
